Project status:

The current state of the project is approximately this: Platemail is very much alive and developing nicely, although there isn't as yet enough functionality to warrant a release. Some time ago in the project news I promised a plan which would show what needed to happen before an initial release could be made, and although I did draw up the plan, it didn't get published as I had to go travelling for 3 months. I'm hoping to revive this plan soon.

Development of Platemail may speed up a little now that there is a second developer registered with the project, David Stocks. He is currently looking at adding the much needed persistence for mail accounts and other settings, while I'm bringing the IMAP support up to a usable level. Once this is done I'll be looking at the mail filters again, which have been languishing unused ever since I first wrote them.

As soon as these areas are all up to scratch, I'll add some more functionality to the GUI, and then I'll probably be able to start using Platemail for some of my real mail accounts. This should force me to fix a lot of small but important areas of missing functionality, and then we'll be within sight of an initial release.
