Masters swimming - Grove also has a small but active Masters Section. At the recent Scottish Masters Championships Grove took a substantial haul of medals including 12 golds, and at the British Championships they picked up three silvers and a bronze, as well as a new Scottish record. Despite having only two male swimmers, last year Grove finished 71st out of 380 clubs; so far in 2007 they are ranked 50th out of 307. New Masters swimmers are always welcome, please contact Stuart on satelliteproperty@hotmail.com. - posted by Neil Campbell 8/12/2007 02:59:00 PM

Attendance - The attendance scheme re-started on Monday 4 February. Swimmers are given a point for each night they swim, but swimming on both a Monday and a Thursday in the same week will attract 3 points rather than 2. Additional points will be awarded at quiet times such as holiday periods. A trophy will be awarded at the 2009 disco for best attendance - posted by Neil Campbell 4/20/2007 08:47:00 AM

Grove Amateur Swimming Club

The Club currently caters for children of all ages, though mainly in the 7 to 14 age group. Our aim is to improve swimmers' stamina and stroke development beyond the point which they would normally attain in swimming lessons, and to maintain the children's interest in, and enjoyment of, swimming. We offer this in a pleasant, safe and friendly environment, without the pressure to swim for hours on end which is found in some clubs.

At present the Grove meets at Dalry on Monday and Thursday evenings from 8 pm until around 9.30 pm. A nightly, rather than monthly, fee is charged, although the first night is free. There is no pressure on swimmers to attend on both nights of the week, although clearly their swimming will improve the more times they are able to attend. The Club runs throughout the year, apart from brief shutdowns around Christmas and during July.

The Grove run some social events, of which the principal one is a disco and buffet held in February to present the trophies and medals won in the previous year's Club Championships. Occasionally a race night or similar event is run for parents in the autumn.

Swimmers (or parents) who think they may be interested in joining the Grove are asked to contact us, at swim@groveasc.org.uk or simply turn up at Dalry Swim Centre on a Monday or Thursday evening.

All will be made very welcome!
